Bring the family to the campsite and still have plenty of room to spare with the two-room Columbia Cougar Flats II cabin dome tent. The Cougar Flats II--which sleeps from six to 10 people--is equipped with both a Cyclone venting system and a GoBe Dry rain protection system. The Cyclone system greatly increases the air circulation within the tent, helping you stay cool on warmer days or dry out after a nasty rainstorm. The GoBe Dry system, meanwhile, ensures that the pounding rain won't find a way inside. The tent even includes a patented bay window design that lets you keep the windows open during the storm.

The real highlight of the tent, however, is the spacious interior, which divides its ample sleeping space between two different rooms. As a result, you can give the kids one room and the adults the other, or you can use one room as a bedroom and the other as a living space. You can even zip up the divider and turn the tent into one large room. In addition, the interior of the tent offers plenty of organizational features, such as internal pockets, hanging cupholders for coffee or soft drinks, storage lockers for your clothes, and a gear loft that holds your valuables out of the way. And once it's time to leave the campsite, the tent collapses quickly into a wheeled EZ Pak storage bag, which features an expandable zippered gusset for easy stuffing.

Other features include a sturdy hybrid steel/fiberglass frame with steel and fiberglass poles, two separate doors, a Camp Port for easy cable passage, and a fully seam-taped polyester fly with an 800mm waterproof coating. The Cougar Flats II measures 15 by 7.16 by 10 feet (W x H x D) and weighs 54 pounds.

About Columbia Sportswear
Founded in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company has grown from a small family-owned hat distributor to one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of skiwear in the United States. Columbia's extensive product line includes a wide variety of outerwear, sportswear, rugged footwear and accessories. Columbia specializes in developing innovative products that are functional yet stylish and offer great value. Eighty-year-old matriarch Gert Boyle, chairman of the board, and her son, Tim Boyle, president and CEO, lead the company.

Columbia's history starts with Gert's parents, Paul and Marie Lamfrom, when they fled Germany in 1937. They bought a small hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon, and named it Columbia Hat Company, after the river bordering the city. Soon frustrated by poor deliveries from suppliers, the Lamfroms decided to start manufacturing products themselves. In 1948, Gert married college sweetheart Neal Boyle, who joined the family business and later took the helm of the growing company. When Neal suddenly died of a heart attack in 1970, Gert enlisted help from Tim, then a college senior. After that it wasn't long before business really started to take off. Columbia was one of the first companies to make jackets from waterproof/breathable fabric. The company introduced the breakthrough technology called the Columbia Interchange System, in which a shell and liner combine for multiple wearing options. In the early 1980s, then-60-year-old Gert began her role as "Mother Boyle" in Columbia's successful and popular advertising campaign.

The company went public in 1998 and moved into a new era as a world leader in the active outdoor apparel industry. Today, Columbia Sportswear employs more than 1,800 people around the world and distributes and sells products in more than 50 countries and to more than 12,000 retailers internationally.

5 out of 5 stars Good tent   August 16, 2010
J. Kostlevy (Madison, WI)
I have used this tent for approximately a week over the past month and I have to agree with other reviews. The tent is great quality and we made it through a heavy rainstorm without getting wet (and I hadn't done any seam sealing yet!) We did have a strap on our rainfly break, but I just spoke with Northpole and they are sending us a new one right away. I appreciate that the separator in the middle sticks up a little. It held our air mattresses firm on one side of the tent which allowed us to use the other for gear. We used a queen and a twin air mattress on one side. You might be able to fit 2 queens, but they would definitely be a tight fit and would rub against the tent which may cause leaking. I wish the awning was in front of the door instead of attached to a window and I hate that the cords to hold the tent stretch out so far. This caused more than one person to trip. I will probably shorten them next time. I would definitely buy this one again.

Word of warning: I found the setup directions confusing the first time. Now we are able to set up easily.

5 out of 5 stars Good tent..suits us perfectly.   August 3, 2010

We've used this tent for 9 days this month. It has held up incredibly well. We did apply the seam sealer as soon as we unpacked the tent. I recommend setting up the tent first before you try to set it up in the woods. Once you learn the order of the poles, you can set this tent up in less than 15 minutes. Plenty of room for a family of 5. Had a few downpours we rode out and there were few leaks. In fact, we may have caused a couple of leaks ourselves. In one downpour, we were perfectly fine. This is one fine tent. Buy it!

5 out of 5 stars Monsoon ready!!!!!!!!!!   July 28, 2010
Stinky (NYC)
Hi, being over 6 feet tall and having a family of 4, I bought this tent in the hope it would be roomy enough and tall enough for my family. It did not disappoint. It has plenty of room for 2 queen blow ups and still has room to walk in, stow bags and change comfortably. It's easy to put up with 2 people although the directions are TERRIBLE. The shock poles are color coded so it's easy to assemble once you figure out what it should look like when up. Just remember to install the thin poles first and everything else will become self evident assuming you've put up a tent before! As for the construction, it is high quality considering the price and size. The rain fly goes over easily and boy did we need it on our first trip!!! a few hours after pitching the tent we were hit with severe rain. The tent didn't have a drop of water inside. All the zippers seal nicely and have overlapping fabric to keep water from running onto & into them. After that, the next day only got worse. We were hit once again with the mother of all Thunderstorms in upstate NY. I'm talking monsoon rain with sideways wind and deafening thunder and lightning. It was so bad we almost evacuated the campsite from fear of a tree falling on us. Through it all, the tent was dry as a bone with no damage from the storm. Just a few notes if you do buy it. First, you may want to pitch it once before you go camping so you don't look like an idiot in front of friends and family while staring at the directions. I didn't have time and paid the price, lol. When you unfold it for the first time, go slow and make a mental note of how it gets rolled up so when you break it down you can pack it back in the bag the same way. Second, it is bulky when it's in the carry bag, so be careful lifting it on your own. Third, the stakes aren't the greatest. Do yourself a favor and buy some long heavy duty ones. Last, there is also a small shock pole that goes in the Bay windows. They need to be installed from INSIDE the tent before tying the windows to the stakes. All in all, if you're considering this tent, look no further, it's dynamite!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Great Large Tent   July 26, 2010
L. Parmenter (San Francisco, CA)
We have been using this tent for aroung 3 or more years now. It is very well made and we enjoy it greatly. Each room is very spacious. The look of the tent is fantastic. The only thing I would have liked is if each of the two rooms had its own doorway for entrance and exit. If there are people in both rooms sleeping one room must exit and enter through the room with the door. This creates a little bit of problem with regards to disturbance while sleeping and of course privacy. I really wish each room had a doorway. Overall this is a fantastic and fun tent that we love.

3 out of 5 stars Columbia Cougar Flats 2   July 26, 2010

I like the spaciousness of this tent. I can put my 4 children (under13) on one side and they are comfortable. There is no room to walk though unless you walk on top of sleeping bags however. The rain fly may come in a little handy, but I would prefer to have it over one door instead of the big window. The doors are both on the same room on either side of the big window. I think it would be better to have one door on each room. The divider in the middle is like two doors butterflied so if you want out of the room with no exterior door you have to unzip the interior wall then unzip the exterior door. Seems like they could have made this design just work a little better. You have to be careful with the pop out window poles they could break easily. Fortunately I had read the reviews were people have broken theirs and now can be extra careful with mine. It looks to me like the seems are taped so it should be fairly water proof. All this is nothing I can't work around. I understand that It is just a tent though. I would have given it 5 stars if the design would have been a little bit different. I am hoping to get many years of use out of it, despite all the stuff I mentioned.
